Atlantic Eye Institute (AEI) has two convenient offices with ample parking:1. Our Memorial Hospital-area location at 6207 Bennett Road; 2. Our Jacksonville Beach location at 3316 South 3rd Street S. Suite 103. Both have a dedicated LASIK surgical suite and a full service optical shop with the convenience of an outpatient surgical center nearby. Neil T.Shmunes, M.D. and Richard L.Simmons, M.D. are board-certified ophthalmologists with the highest academic credentials. Dr. Charles V. Duss, M.D. a Jacksonville native has recently joined our practice after extensive training, completing his residency training in Ophthalmology at the University Of Medicine and Dentistry New Jersey. These surgeons have privileges at many area hospitals and surgery centers and are members of various medical organizations including American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, Florida and Duval County Societies of Ophthalmology, Duval County Medical Society and Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. The doctors continue their medical education each year and conduct national pharmacological research at the Atlantic Eye Institute.
Dr.C.Steven Lancaster is a board-certified optometrist. He is a nationally recognized specialist in contact lenses and also has a strong interest in ocular surface disorders such as dry eye syndrome. Dr.Lancaster is a member of the American Optometric Association, AOA Section on Sports Vision and Contact Lenses, the Southern Council of Optometry, and the Florida Optometric Association. He lectures and writes nationally and internationally on ocular disease and contact lenses. He is dedicated to eye care in Jacksonville, Florida.
Atlantic Eye Institute (AEI) strives to provide its patients with the safest, most appropriate and advanced treatments and surgical techniques. Each patient is treated as an individual with unique needs. All patients at AEI are personally cared for by one of the institute physicians and AEI doctors are on call for their patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
