C. Steven Lancaster, O.D., FAAO
Dr. C. Steven Lancaster, born in Chicago, Illinois, received his Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University in 1976 and his Bachelor of Visual Science and Doctorate degrees from the Illinois College of Optometry, graduating with honors in 1980. Dr. Lancaster has been in private and group practice since 1980 and has been affiliated with the Atlantic Eye Institute since 1998. Currently, he is the director of the Dry Eye Clinic at the Atlantic Eye Institute. He is an assistant adjunct professor for the Illinois College of Optometry and the University of Missouri–St. Louis College of Optometry. He serves as the Atlantic Eye Institute’s director of externship programs.
Dr. Lancaster is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and has lectured nationally and internationally on ocular disease, dry eye syndrome, and contact lenses. His sponsors have included: Vistakon, Ciba Vision, Cooper Vision, the Southern Council of Optometry, the National Academy of Sports Vision, X-Cel Contact Lens Laboratories, Allergen Pharmaceuticals, Inspire Pharmaceuticals and Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. His work has been featured in national publications and on local television and radio.
Dr. Lancaster is an active member of many professional organizations and currently serves on the Inspire Pharmaceutical Optometric Advisory Board. He has been a faculty member of the Vision Care Institute LLC, has served as President and Vice President of the Northwest Florida Optometric Association, and as a board examiner for the State of Florida. He is a founding member of the Ocular Surface Society of Optometrists and is currently affiliated with Tear Film and Ocular Surface Society, the Sjogrens Syndrome Foundation, and the American and Florida Optometric Associations. Dr. Lancaster is a recipient of an American Optometric Foundation Research Award from the Illinois College of Optometry. He has served as the team optometrist for the Florida State University Seminoles, the Jacksonville Barracuda’s Hockey Team and for the Jacksonville Fraternal Order of Police annual boxing match.
