The surgeons at Atlantic Eye Institute are able to help our patients with improvements in their appearance as well as in their vision. By middle age, many of us are dismayed to find excess, wrinkled skin around our eyes that makes us look tired and older. In our older patients, excess eyelid skin may interfere with vision or contribute to infections as bacteria is trapped in the skin folds and at the lid margins. Removing this excess skin usually clears susceptibility to blepharitis and immediately produces a younger, more rested appearance.
Our Board-Certified surgeons have unique knowledge of the eyelid and orbital anatomy as ophthalmologists trained in oculo-plastic surgery. They have done thousands of upper and lower lid blepharoplasties, brow lifts and ptosis procedures–on male and female patients–with natural, not artificial-looking, results. Our practice also assists older patients who have developed entropio (turning in of the lower lid usually with eye irritation from inturning eyelashes) or ectropion (turning out of the lower lid exposing both the lower eyeball and lid conjunctiva). Both of these conditions can predispose a patient to infection. Entropions, ectropions and lid drooping (ptosis) are repaired expertly at Atlantic Eye Institute.
Eyelid wound or trauma, cancer of the lids or orbit, and revision of prior, unsatisfactory lid surgery can be successfully addressed by our surgeons.
For those patients who wish to improve or correct signs of aging around the eyes and face without surgery, our practice offers treatments with our Palomar Medilux™ pulsed light to minimize wrinkles and to remove excess hair, age spots, etc..
